Another major transportation investment is coming to life in Antalya, one of Turkey’s tourism capitals. The new terminal buildings, which will more than double the airport’s annual passenger capacity, will be officially opened on Saturday, April 12, by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu shared details about the new terminal and infrastructure investments, stating:
“The existing 90,143-square-meter international terminal has been expanded to 224,000 square meters, while the 36,859-square-meter domestic terminal has been enlarged to 75,000 square meters. As a result, Antalya Airport’s annual passenger capacity will increase from 35 million to 82 million.”
Aircraft Parking Positions Increased to 176, New State Guesthouse Opened
Minister Uraloğlu emphasized that the project has significantly enhanced not only the terminals but also the overall airport infrastructure. He provided the following details:
“We increased the number of aircraft parking positions from 108 to 176. The existing VIP Terminal was expanded from 690 square meters to 2,000 square meters, and the General Aviation Terminal from 1,200 to 2,800 square meters. In addition, a newly constructed 2,000-square-meter State Guesthouse, a 5,000-square-meter DHMİ (General Directorate of State Airports Authority) Service Building, and new residential lodgings have also been put into service.”
39 Million Passengers Served in 2024
Sharing the passenger and flight traffic statistics achieved by the end of 2024, Minister Uraloğlu highlighted the airport’s efficient operations:
“By the end of 2024, we served 45,351 domestic flights and 6,242,379 domestic passengers, along with 188,748 international flights and 32,988,354 international passengers. In total, we reached 234,099 flights and 39,230,733 passengers.”
Shuttle Service Every 10 Minutes Between Terminals
A key improvement is also underway to address the roughly 2-kilometer distance between the two terminals. Following a directive from the ministry, the airport operator is planning to launch a special shuttle service that will run every 10 minutes to resolve passenger transportation issues.
It is noted that passengers have faced difficulties in transferring between terminals over the past two years, with more than a thousand complaints reportedly submitted to the ministry about Fraport TAV.
