An-24 Passenger Plane Veers Off Runway During Takeoff in Russia

According to TASS news agency on Saturday, an An-24 passenger plane veered off the runway during takeoff in Russia’s Khabarovsk region. All 23 people onboard escaped unharmed.

The incident occurred in Nelkan, a settlement located approximately 1,800 kilometers north of Khabarovsk city. Local emergency officials reported that the plane was unable to lift off during its acceleration phase, prompting the crew to execute an emergency braking maneuver. This resulted in the aircraft overshooting the runway by about 30 meters.

The aircraft was carrying three crew members and 20 passengers. Authorities confirmed there were no injuries or fatalities and added that no fire or other hazards arose during the incident.

Officials stated that investigations into the cause of the incident are ongoing, while the passengers’ health conditions have been confirmed as stable.
