American Eagle Planes Collide on the Runway

At Washington D.C.’s Ronald Reagan National Airport, two American Eagle planes collided on the runway. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries.

According to statements from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and American Airlines, an American Eagle plane operated by PSA Airlines, while taxiing for takeoff, made contact with another American Eagle plane operated by Republic Airways at the wingtip.

Planes Returned, Passengers Safe

After the collision, both planes returned to the gates for technical inspections. All passengers on board, including members of Congress, were reported to be in good health. American Airlines confirmed that the Congressional members would continue their travels on other flights.

Congress Member’s Humorous Post

New York Representative Nick LaLota, who was on one of the planes, shared his experience on social media, saying:

“Serving in Congress comes with once-in-a-lifetime experiences… Like just now, while sitting on the DCA runway, when another plane hit our wing. We’re turning back to the gate, but thankfully everyone’s okay!”

FAA and Authorities Investigate the Incident

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority stated that the collision did not affect airport operations, and the FAA has launched an official investigation into the incident.
