A dramatic incident at Copenhagen Airport late at night caused panic as a stolen Swedish-registered SUV crashed into the airport’s fences. The suspect exited the vehicle and ran towards the runway, prompting authorities to shut down airspace and declare an emergency.
Suspect Ignored Police Orders to Stop
The incident began when Danish police attempted to stop the suspicious vehicle. After determining that the Swedish-registered SUV was stolen, officers ordered the driver to halt. However, instead of complying, the suspect fled. The chase, which took place around 03:30 AM, ended when the driver crashed into the airport’s perimeter fence.
Security on High Alert
Following the crash, the suspect abandoned the vehicle and rushed onto airport grounds, heading towards the runway. Security measures were immediately heightened, and airspace was closed. Police and security teams launched a large-scale search operation, deploying drones to locate the suspect.
Airport Reopened
In the early morning hours, Copenhagen Airport spokesperson Julie Boll announced that the suspect was no longer believed to be within airport premises following extensive police efforts. As a result, the airport was officially reopened.
Suspect Still at Large
Despite ongoing searches, the suspect has yet to be apprehended. Danish authorities have intensified patrols around the airport and continue their investigation into the suspect’s identity and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
