Airbus has officially submitted a bid for the large-scale tender issued by Poland’s national carrier, LOT, for the procurement of 84 passenger aircraft. Airbus Vice President Benoit de Saint-Exupery announced the bid in a statement to the Polish press agency PAP.

A220-100 and A220-300 Models Proposed

De Saint-Exupery stated that Airbus’s proposal includes two variants of its popular aircraft: the A220-100 and A220-300. These models are widely favoured by airlines for short- and medium-haul regional flights.

Polish Government Initiated the Tender Process

It was previously announced in March 2024 that Poland’s Ministry of State Assets planned to invite Airbus and Brazilian manufacturer Embraer to submit bids for LOT’s fleet expansion. The tender is seen as a key part of LOT’s strategy to strengthen its regional network.

Decision Expected Soon

Commenting on the process, Airbus executive de Saint-Exupery said:

“As far as we know, LOT aims to finalise the tender within a few months and make a swift decision. We believe the sooner this decision is made, the better it will be for the airline.”

With the aviation industry closely monitoring Poland’s crucial decision, Airbus’s strong bid and the features of its A220 models are expected to play a decisive role in the outcome of the process.
