Airbus Announces October Order and Delivery Figures

In October, Airbus received orders for a total of 82 A320neo and A321neo aircraft and delivered 62 aircraft to customers. Significant deals with major clients like Riyadh Air and American Airlines highlight the increasing demand for Airbus’s narrow-body aircraft.

High Demand for A320neo Orders

All of Airbus’s orders in October were for the A320neo family. American Airlines ordered one A321neo, while Bhutan-based Drukair finalized orders for three A320neo and two A321XLR. Two unidentified customers ordered five and ten A320neo each, and a private client purchased one ACJ320neo.

The largest order of the month came from Riyadh Air, which signed a firm agreement for 60 A321neo aircraft. This order aligns with the airline’s goal of establishing a network of 100 destinations by 2030, supplemented by a previous order for 72 Boeing 787 aircraft.

Airbus Deliveries: 62 Aircraft

In October, Airbus delivered a total of 62 aircraft—56 narrow-body and six wide-body models. The Royal Saudi Air Force received an A330-based Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft, while Delta Air Lines, Virgin Atlantic, and Corsair each took delivery of an A330-900.

Japan Airlines received one A220-100, seven A220-300, two A319neo, 14 A320neo, and 32 A321neo aircraft, including the A321LR and A321XLR variants.

Airbus Targets and Year-End Expectations

Airbus aims to deliver 770 aircraft by the end of 2024, adjusting its earlier target of 800 aircraft due to supply chain pressures. As of October 31, Airbus has delivered 559 aircraft since the beginning of the year.

Notable Deliveries

  • Lufthansa: Received one A350-1000 and one A350-900, with the A350-900 featuring Lufthansa’s first Allegris First Class configuration.
  • China Southern Airlines and Tibet Airlines: Each received two A319neo aircraft, with only 35 A319neo orders remaining in Airbus’s backlog.
  • Iberia: Delivered the world’s first A321XLR, which entered commercial service on November 6.
