Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (ISG) Airport has implemented another collaboration that will expand its global network in line with its goal of becoming a transit hub in air transport. AirAsia X, the subsidiary of AirAsia Group offering medium- and long-haul flights with a budget-friendly flight class, has as of today (14 November 2025) started reciprocal flights between Sabiha Gökçen (SAW) and Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) four times a week with its Airbus A330 wide-body aircraft.
Passengers and cabin crew of the first aircraft arriving from Kuala Lumpur were welcomed with a modest ceremony at the airport due to the sorrow over our 20 martyrs.
The ceremony was attended by Malaysia’s Consul General Ahmad Amiri Abu Bakar, AirAsia X CEO Benyamin Ismail, and Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport senior management, employees, and passengers.

As the longest-range flight of Sabiha Gökçen Airport, the route offers budget-friendly travellers an easy and comfortable travel option as part of both destinations. With this collaboration, it becomes easier to reach popular destinations such as Jakarta, Bali, Singapore, Bangkok, Phuket, and Tokyo via Malaysia from “The City Airport” Sabiha Gökçen. The new route, connecting Southeast Asia to Europe via Istanbul through Sabiha Gökçen’s strong network, will support elevating the relationship between the two countries, particularly in travel, trade, and tourism.
With the Malaysia connection, Sabiha Gökçen International Airport connects Istanbul to a total of 152 destinations in 54 countries, including 39 domestic and 113 international routes, through the 23 airlines it serves.
