An AirArabia Airbus A320-214, operating flight number “ABY287” from Sharjah International Airport in the United Arab Emirates to Istanbul Airport, experienced a serious technical malfunction during its flight. The aircraft, carrying 144 passengers and crew, suffered a failure of its left engine while in cruise, causing the engine to shut down.

In line with safety procedures, the aircraft’s captain declared a “full emergency” and diverted the flight to Ankara Esenboğa Airport. Prior to the emergency landing, Airport Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) teams under the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMI) were positioned around the runway in readiness.

The Airbus A320 safely completed a controlled landing using only one engine. No injuries or adverse incidents were reported. The aircraft was escorted by ARFF teams to a secure parking area, where passengers were safely disembarked and transferred to the terminal without any issues.
