In the first four months of 2025, international air travel from the UK rose by 3.7%, with Türkiye ranking 8th among the most preferred destinations.
According to data released by the UK Civil Aviation Authority, the number of international air passengers departing from the UK saw a notable increase in the first four months of 2025. Covering the January–April period, the total number of outbound passengers surpassed 70.5 million, marking a 3.7% increase compared to the previous year.
The report ranked the top destinations preferred by UK travellers. Spain led the list with a 10.6% share, followed by the United States, Italy, and France. Türkiye secured the 8th position with a 3.2% share of outbound traffic.
Istanbul Was the Top Choice in Türkiye
Among air travellers from the UK to Türkiye, Istanbul stood out as the most preferred city, accounting for 56% of total traffic. It was followed by Antalya with 27%, Muğla with 11.4%, and İzmir with 3.7%.
Industry representatives highlighted that Türkiye continues to attract growing interest in the UK market and predicted that these figures may rise even further during the summer season. Istanbul, in particular, remains appealing due to its rich cultural heritage, extensive flight connectivity, and popularity for short city breaks.
