Air India, owned by the Tata Group, has canceled approximately 60 flights to the U.S. in November and December due to ongoing aircraft maintenance issues and supply chain constraints. A source from the airline informed PTI that the cancellations affect flights to major U.S. cities, including San Francisco, Washington, Chicago, Newark, and New York.
According to a statement from Air India, the primary reason for these cancellations is delays in the return times of aircraft undergoing extensive maintenance. The company is offering alternative travel options on other flights within the same group, on the same or nearby dates, to assist affected passengers. An Air India spokesperson said, “Due to delayed return of some aircraft undergoing heavy maintenance and supply chain constraints, there has been a temporary reduction in operational fleet. We regret the cancellation of a limited number of flights until the end of December.”
The cancellations impact key routes during the busy travel season, including five weekly flights between Delhi and Washington and seven weekly flights from Delhi and Mumbai to New York. The airline also operates seven weekly flights from Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru to San Francisco and from Delhi to Chicago.
Affected passengers have been informed about the cancellations, and necessary arrangements are being made to minimize travel disruptions.
