Air Europa has announced that it will begin direct flights between Madrid and Istanbul starting May 12, 2025. This new route aims to boost the interest of Spanish travelers in Turkey.
Turkey has become a popular destination for Spanish tourists. Between January and September 2024, 294,678 Spanish tourists visited Turkey, representing a 21.5% increase compared to the previous year. This growth is expected to continue.
Four Weekly Flights to Start
At launch, Air Europa will operate four flights per week on the new route. Starting July 7, 2025, the airline plans to increase the frequency to daily flights, aligning with the peak holiday season for Spanish travelers.
The operations will be carried out using modern Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, with seating capacities ranging from 333 to 339. With this, Air Europa intends to offer approximately 4,746 seats weekly.
Intense Competition in Turkey’s Aviation Market
On the Madrid-Istanbul route, Air Europa will face competition from Turkey’s leading airlines, including Turkish Airlines (THY), Pegasus, SunExpress, and Spain-based Vueling. With the Dreamliner’s comfort and customer-centric service, Air Europa aims to stand out in this competitive market.
Turkey: An Unmissable Destination for Spanish Travelers
Turkey’s rich culture, history, and natural beauty continue to captivate Spanish tourists. The new flight route will make travel between Madrid and Istanbul easier and faster, supporting tourism and commercial ties between the two countries.
