A Boeing 737-800 operated by Russia’s flag carrier Aeroflot made an emergency landing at Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku due to a passenger experiencing a medical emergency during a Moscow-Dubai flight. The swift decision by the crew ensured a successful emergency landing.
Medical Emergency: Flight Diversion
According to FlightRadar24 data, Aeroflot’s flight SU524 departed from Moscow at 23:41 UTC (02:41 local time). After flying for over two hours at an altitude of 36,000 feet, the crew reported a medical emergency, prompting a diversion to Baku.
The aircraft safely landed in Baku at 06:27 local time (02:27 UTC). The ailing passenger received immediate medical attention from emergency response teams at the airport. Although the flight was initially scheduled to operate between Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport and Dubai International Airport, the medical emergency necessitated the route change.
Swift Response from Baku Airport
Heydar Aliyev International Airport activated its emergency protocols during the incident, demonstrating efficient crisis management. The airport’s regular training programs have ensured preparedness for such medical emergencies. Authorities reported that the condition of the affected passenger was stabilized.
Following the emergency, the Boeing 737-800, registered as RA-73115, departed Baku at 04:41 local time.
