A New Era for KAAN: Second Prototype to Fly in 2025

The National Combat Aircraft (MMU) KAAN, a pioneering project of Turkey’s national aviation endeavors, continues to make headlines as a symbol of future warfare technologies. Developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ), this advanced aircraft stands out as a key representation of Turkey’s ambition for defense industry independence.

New Developments for KAAN: Second Prototype Ready by 2025

President of the Defense Industries Agency (SSB), Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, announced that the images of KAAN’s second prototype have been released, with its maiden flight planned for the end of 2025. Görgün also highlighted efforts in domestic engine production, stating that Turkey is making significant strides toward producing its own fighter jet engines.

The development of KAAN’s second prototype marks only the beginning. Under the coordination of the Defense Industries Agency, a total of six additional prototypes are planned, aimed at enhancing the design, testing, and operational capabilities of the aircraft.

Key Features of TUSAŞ KAAN

Radar Stealth Technology
KAAN features a design optimized for low radar visibility, reducing the likelihood of detection by enemy radar systems and boosting operational success rates.

Artificial Intelligence Support
Equipped with advanced AI systems, KAAN can perform critical tasks autonomously. Functions such as data analysis, target tracking, and threat prioritization are efficiently managed by its AI capabilities.

High Maneuverability
As a hallmark of 5th-generation fighter jets, KAAN boasts exceptional agility, providing a distinct edge in air-to-air engagements.

Internal Weapon Bays
KAAN is equipped with internal weapon bays that house its armament within the aircraft’s body. This design enhances stealth and improves aerodynamic performance.

Advanced Cockpit Design
KAAN’s cockpit is engineered for integration with unmanned aerial systems, enabling the aircraft to function both as a standalone strike platform and as a command and control hub.

Advanced Material Technologies
Aircraft components made of titanium and composite materials provide an optimal balance of lightweight and durability. These parts, produced using 3D printing, reduce production costs and shorten manufacturing times.

Operational Versatility
Designed for both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions, KAAN can quickly adapt to various operational roles on the battlefield.
