Turkey’s leading low-cost airline, Pegasus, continues to expand its flight network in Kazakhstan. Adding to its existing routes to Almaty, Shymkent, Astana, and Aktau, Pegasus has now launched direct flights to Atyrau, the port city of Kazakhstan.
The new route, departing from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (SAW), will operate twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays. The inaugural flight to Atyrau (GUW) marked a historic milestone as it took off following a ceremony held at Sabiha Gökçen Airport.
With this new route, Pegasus strengthens the air bridge between Central Asia and Turkey, while Atyrau becomes the fifth destination served by Sabiha Gökçen Airport in Kazakhstan.
Atyrau: The Pearl of the Caspian Now Closer Than Ever
Situated on the banks of the Ural River, Atyrau blends Eastern and Western cultural influences. With its rich natural resources, strategic location, and modern infrastructure, it is one of Kazakhstan’s most important cities. Located on the historic Silk Road, this dynamic city is now just one direct flight away from Istanbul thanks to Pegasus.
Atyrau’s economic strength lies in its oil and natural gas reserves, making it an attractive hub for business. The new route is set to offer significant opportunities in trade, tourism, and cultural exchange. Strengthening ties between Turkey and Kazakhstan, this new connection also further expands Istanbul’s international network.
From Sabiha Gökçen to 105 International Destinations in 52 Countries
Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport continues to offer passengers greater connectivity with its ever-expanding network of destinations across Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa. With the addition of the Atyrau route, Pegasus has further reinforced its regional presence in line with its international growth strategy.
