Pegasus Airlines Flies into the Future with Innovative Steps in Its 20th Year

Turkey’s leading low-cost airline, Pegasus Airlines, is marking its 20th anniversary this year with determined steps toward global growth. Having started its journey in 2005 with just 14 aircraft, Pegasus now operates a young and eco-friendly fleet of 119 aircraft and plans to add 9 more by the end of the year.

Fleet Surpasses 100 Aircraft; Landmark Order Signed for 200 More

To mark the centennial of the Republic of Turkey, Pegasus added its 100th aircraft to the fleet. The company crowned its growth strategy in 2024 by signing a landmark agreement with Boeing for 200 next-generation Boeing 737 MAX-10 aircraft — 100 firm and 100 optional orders. This deal underscores the airline’s ambitious expansion plans and will help Pegasus broaden its flight network across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa (MENA), Central Asia, and Turkey. With an average fleet age of just 4.7 years, Pegasus has been recognized in 2025 as the airline with the second youngest fleet globally among carriers with over 100 aircraft.

Flights to 151 Destinations in 54 Countries

Continuing to expand its network in the first half of 2024, Pegasus now operates flights to 151 destinations in 54 countries — including 114 international and 37 domestic routes. New international destinations include Edinburgh, Seville, Bremen, Dublin, Zagreb, Chișinău, Graz, Bristol, Cluj-Napoca, and Algiers. On domestic and regional routes, notable new additions include Trabzon–Northern Cyprus (Ercan), Ankara–Dubai/Baku, and new international flights from Antalya and Bodrum.

A New Era in Digitalisation: AI-Powered Captain Announcements

Positioning itself as a “digital airline,” Pegasus approaches digital transformation with a holistic vision that extends beyond technology to include its operational philosophy. In the past two years, the airline has launched over 30 technology projects focusing on customer experience, operational efficiency, and innovation. It is also investing in its digital future through the Pegasus Innovation Lab, established in Silicon Valley at the end of 2023.

The first product of the Innovation Lab — an AI-powered captain announcement system — was launched in September 2024. This system uses personalized and cloned captain voices in multiple languages to deliver announcements, making the passenger experience more dynamic and engaging. Pegasus continues to develop academic research and next-generation solutions in data analytics, customer insights, and operational optimization.

A Sustainability Leader in the Aviation Sector

Aiming to lead in sustainable aviation, Pegasus supports IATA’s goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050. In 2024, the airline achieved the lowest carbon emissions rate in its history — just 58.3 grams of CO₂ per revenue passenger kilometre. Pegasus continues to expand its fleet with low-emission, high-efficiency aircraft. Under its “Our Route is a Sustainable Future” vision, the airline also pioneers efforts in social sustainability, including initiatives promoting gender balance.
