Çukurova International Airport Celebrates Its First Year with Over 5 Million Passengers
Çukurova International Airport, the gateway of the Çukurova region — covering Adana, Mersin, Osmaniye, Niğde and Hatay — to the world, celebrated its first year in service with a ceremony.
The ceremony was attended by Mersin Deputy Governor Faik Arıcan, Tarsus District Governor and Airport District Governor Mehmet Ali Akyüz, DHMİ Çukurova Chief Director Seracettin Yıldırım, KZV Airports Operations Deputy General Manager Göksu Güney, Çukurova International Airport Director Oğuz Oflaz, representatives of public institutions, airport stakeholders and employees.
“The realisation of a vision”
Speaking at the celebration, Oğuz Oflaz said: “This past year represents not just the passage of time, but the realisation of a vision, dedication, and a dream.”
8 domestic and 22 international destinations
Oflaz stated that the airport operates direct flights to eight domestic destinations — Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Antalya, Bodrum, Trabzon and Van — and 22 international destinations in 13 countries. The network extends to Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, Azerbaijan, Russia, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the UAE, supported by many airlines including Turkish Airlines, Pegasus, SunExpress, Corendon, Aeroflot and Azerbaijan Airlines.
Over 5 million passengers, more than 30,000 flights
Since the start of operations on 11 August 2024, the airport has welcomed more than 5 million passengers and handled over 30,000 flights.
A strategic hub for cargo and logistics
Thanks to its proximity to ports, organised industrial zones and road networks, the airport is positioning itself not only as a passenger hub but also as an international centre for air cargo and logistics.
Plans for the future
With new international destinations, eco-friendly investments for the Green Airport Certificate, digital transformation projects and plans for a general aviation terminal, the airport is preparing to offer dedicated services for private jets, air ambulances and VIP flights.
The ceremony concluded with a cake-cutting, plaque presentation and commemorative photographs.
