As part of Tourism Week events, the “Turkish Airlines and Tourism Stakeholders Press Conference” was held in Kahramanmaraş with broad participation. The meeting attracted significant attention from local officials and industry representatives, including Kahramanmaraş Governor Mükerrem Ünlüer.
Attendees included: former Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of the 66th Government Prof. Dr. Vahit Kirişci, AK Party Kahramanmaraş MPs Ömer Oruç Bilal Debgici, Mehmet Şahin, Mevlüt Kurt, and Tuba Köksal, Metropolitan Mayor Fırat Görgel, Deputy Governor Muhammed Akın, Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee Ahmet Bolat, SASAD Chairman Osman Okyay, district mayors, public institution directors, Turkish Airlines officials, and businesspeople.
Kahramanmaraş’s Tourism Potential Discussed
The conference focused on Kahramanmaraş’s tourism potential, the enhancement of regional transportation infrastructure, and sustainable tourism strategies. The speakers emphasized the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors.
Metropolitan Mayor Fırat Görgel highlighted the value the meeting would bring to the city, stating: “I believe this meeting with Mr. Ahmet Bolat and the esteemed Turkish Airlines administration will add value to our city. We will work together to promote Kahramanmaraş.”
$4 Million Promotional Support from Turkish Airlines to Kahramanmaraş
Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee of Turkish Airlines, announced plans to increase the number of flights to Kahramanmaraş:
“In 2019, we operated 14 weekly flights; this number rose to 18 in 2023. This year, it will increase to 24 weekly flights. With the momentum in tourism, this number will continue to grow.”
Bolat also revealed that promotional tours will be organized from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Australia. Promotional videos for Kahramanmaraş will be featured on Turkish Airlines’ digital platforms, and a total of $4 million in promotional support will be provided for the city.












“Kahramanmaraş Deserves More”
Governor Mükerrem Ünlüer noted that the conference would bring fresh momentum to the promotion of the city, stating:
“With its historical, cultural, and natural riches, Kahramanmaraş deserves much more. I believe this meeting marks the beginning of a fruitful process that will reveal our city’s potential.”
A Shared Vision from Public and Private Sectors
At the conclusion of the meeting, it was emphasized that all stakeholders must act together to ensure Kahramanmaraş achieves the place it deserves in tourism. Participants conveyed their commitment to ongoing collaboration for a strong and sustainable tourism strategy.
Following the program, attendees visited a special exhibition prepared by the Kahramanmaraş Olgunlaşma Institute, showcasing the city’s cultural and artistic heritage.
