2024: A Year Full of Records, Sabiha Gökçen International Airport Turns 24

Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (ISG), one of Istanbul’s key transportation hubs, earned the title of Turkey’s most preferred airport for domestic passengers in 2024. Known as the “City Airport,” ISG set new records for passenger numbers thanks to its accessibility and comprehensive services.

As Turkey’s second-largest airport, Sabiha Gökçen closed 2024 with a total of 41,488,653 passengers, including 19,530,169 domestic and 21,958,484 international travelers. Additionally, the number of transfer passengers reached 3,785,593.

Throughout 2024, ISG facilitated 242,367 flights in total, comprising 110,695 domestic and 131,672 international flights.

Expanding Network with New Destinations

In 2024, Sabiha Gökçen added 16 new destinations to its network, including 15 international and 1 domestic route. By connecting Istanbul to 141 destinations across 51 countries, the airport provided passengers with an even wider range of travel options.

Most Popular Routes in 2024

  • International: Nicosia, London, and Cologne topped the list of preferred routes.
  • Domestic: Antalya, Izmir, and Trabzon emerged as the most popular destinations.
