175,000 Flights Operated in Turkey in January

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu shared notable data on air transport for January 2025. He stated that a total of 16,223,575 passengers chose air travel during this period. Meanwhile, aircraft traffic increased by 13% compared to the same month last year, reaching 175,353 flights.

175,353 Flights Recorded

Evaluating the January 2025 data from the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ), Minister Uraloğlu reported 72,517 domestic and 58,293 international flights. Including overflights, the total aircraft traffic reached 175,353, marking a 13% increase compared to January 2024.

Passenger Traffic Increased by 9.9%

In January 2025, 7,541,325 passengers traveled on domestic flights, while 8,676,918 used international flights. Including direct transit passengers, the total passenger count reached 16,223,575, reflecting a 9.9% increase from the same period last year.

Istanbul Airport Served 6.4 Million Passengers

As one of Turkey’s major infrastructure projects, Istanbul Airport hosted 42,921 flights in January 2025. It served 1,233,651 domestic and 5,200,919 international passengers, totaling 6,434,570. This represents a 7% rise in passenger traffic compared to the same month last year.

Sabiha Gökçen Airport’s Passenger Traffic Increased by 16%

Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport welcomed 3,667,502 passengers in January. Domestic passenger traffic reached 1,579,308, while international passengers totaled 2,088,194. The airport recorded 21,724 flights during this period. Compared to the previous year, passenger traffic at Sabiha Gökçen increased by 16%.

Tourist Hubs Hosted 2 Million Passengers

Airports in Turkey’s key tourist destinations served a total of 2,090,646 passengers in January. Domestic flights carried 1,284,451 passengers, while international flights transported 806,195 passengers. The total aircraft traffic at these airports was recorded at 17,675 flights.

Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport stood out with 840,145 passengers, while Antalya Airport served 1,020,962 passengers. Muğla Dalaman Airport recorded 82,092 passengers, and Milas-Bodrum Airport welcomed 104,585 passengers. Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport handled a total of 42,862 passengers.
