120 Aircraft Deliveries in December: Airbus Ends the Year Strong

Airbus, one of the world’s leading aircraft manufacturers, narrowly missed its 2024 target of delivering 770 aircraft. However, its strong performance in December and positive market outlook have boosted the company’s stock.

Strong Performance in December

Airbus is estimated to have delivered around 120 commercial aircraft in December. Bank of America analyst Benjamin Heelan noted that the strong performance of the A320 model led to 13 more deliveries in the fourth quarter compared to the same period last year.

Jefferies analyst Chloe Lemarie projected a total of 127 aircraft deliveries in December, marking a 13% year-on-year increase. This growth indicates stretched production capacity and reduced inventory levels.

Supply Chain Issues Persist

Throughout the year, Airbus grappled with supply chain bottlenecks. Challenges, particularly with engine manufacturers, caused delivery delays. CEO Guillaume Faury emphasized that these bottlenecks have become more pronounced in the post-pandemic period.

3% Rise in Shares

On the first trading day of 2025, Airbus shares rose approximately 3%, reaching €159.26. According to Bloomberg, the recovery in delivery performance and positive market expectations triggered this increase.

Goals for 2025 and Beyond

Delivering around 760 aircraft in 2024, Airbus aims to overcome supply chain challenges and achieve higher delivery figures in the new year. December’s delivery numbers are expected to be announced on January 9, 2025.

With rising aircraft demand, Airbus plans to achieve greater milestones in 2025 and beyond, further strengthening its position as an industry leader.
