In celebration of International Women’s Day on 8th March, Turkish Airlines hosted a special event to honour its female employees. Deputy General Manager (Flight Operations) Mehmet Kadaifçiler and other executives gathered with female pilots and cabin crew for an iftar programme.

Before the iftar, participants came together for a ceramic and stained-glass workshop, where they enjoyed themselves while creating handcrafted pieces. It was announced that these artworks would be exhibited at the Crew Terminal in the coming days.

Women Employees Take the Lead at Turkish Airlines

Turkish Airlines continues to take significant steps to strengthen the position of female employees in the industry. Currently, the company employs 6,975 pilots, 496 of whom are women, and 16,059 cabin crew, including 10,148 women. Additionally, 75 of the 472 pilot trainees at the Flight Academy are women.

The airline’s first female captain pilot, Emel Arman, has been soaring the skies since 1996, while the most senior cabin chief, Özlem Erden Çankaya, has been serving in cabin services since 1995.

In line with its 2033 goals, Turkish Airlines aims to increase the employment of female pilots and cabin crew. The dedicated efforts of female employees not only reinforce the airline’s success in global aviation but also shape the future of the Turkish Airlines family.
